Pressure seal valves in steam and boiler feedwater lines at a southeastern utility were leaking due, in part, to the thermal and pressure cycling which the valves were required to tolerate.
Operating temperature was 550°F at 1200° psig.
Hi-Pro Seal® was hand brushed onto the seal rings of the leaking valves.
Utility maintenance personnel stated the valves coated with Hi-Pro Seal® tolerated the pressure cycling and thermal cycling easily, and sealed the leaks.
The plant then expanded the use of Hi-Pro Seal® to include use on valve seals in the 'donkey' boiler system; finding the product reduced time and maintenance expenditures required to repair valves or stop leaks.
