A Gulf Coast refinery needed a pressured line stop on an elbow on a 16-inch gasoline line with temperatures to 180°F and 120 psi.

Team engineers constructed and tested a special weldable fitting for the job.

Based on these test results modifications were made to a 16-inch line stop head so it could be used to plug off the line at a 45° elbow.

The fitting was welded onto the 16-inch line and the line stop completed successfully.
